Hello, folks! As I wrap up Whispers of the Heir, I realize that I haven’t put out a newsletter lately! So, here I am!

What I’m Writing

Let’s start with an excerpt of what I’m working on:

She shifted in her chair, gestured forward, and Scooby took two paces to reach me. “He’s dangerous, that one.”

I reached my hand out, like Granny had taught me, and he sniffed in a flurry of wet nose boops against my skin. “He is.”

“And you’re on his radar.”

“I am.”

“I knew you were special, Ms. Delante, but what about you has piqued the Illithid’s interest? He already has supernatural creatures in his coven and magick-users.”

“Like you?”

“Oh, no, not me,” she slide her deck back into its box. “I am a witch for hire, not a minion. And you’re avoiding my question.”

“Honestly...” I smoothed the tablecloth beneath my fingers. “I have no clue. I’m tired of being shiny... I’m just fucking tired of everything.”

“I feel you.” She pushed her chair backwards without a sound, and while Scooby stayed with me, the other Great Dane rose to its feet with far more grace than I would’ve given a dog of their size. “I’ll give you a few minutes to think about your reading and about what’s coming, and then we’ll talk some more. Come on, Alric.”

He walked by me with watchful eyes and nodded at Scooby, who raised a brow at his brother and huffed before resting his giant head in my lap.

I stroked his head along the ridge parallel to his ears. “You’re so lucky.”

He glanced up at me.

“No responsibilities. Food and endless naps. No bills, no jobs—” a small annoyed sound rumbled from his throat, “oh, being a familiar isn’t hard work. Don’t try to tell me otherwise, mister.”

Did I pique your interest? I hope so!

What I’m Reading

The Green-Eyed Monster by Mike Robinson

Martin Smith and John Becker: bestselling authors with ordinary names and extraordinary minds. Rivals since childhood, they are natives of the northern California town of Twilight Falls, and famous for their uncanny similarity in both physical manner and literary voice. When one of them ends up dead at the other's home, an investigation is launched into their dark past, revealing a series of troubling stories from their childhood, adolescence, and careers.

All throughout, there lurks a sinister presence—an authorial entity with roots beyond our time or dimension, an entity with far-reaching designs.

Trying to get back into the horror genre in my TBR, and this is a great way to dive in! The first book in his series, this has enough intrigue and darkness for everyone who loves the genre!

Other Things I’m Doing

Cos my ADHD brain needs more hobbies!

Your Mom PSA

So, I started this newsletter to provide positive support for people who haven’t had the best relationship with their parents.

So, me.

Seriously, though, I got such a great response to my Mom PSA’s on my TikTok account that I created this newsletter to send a bit of positive mom to people’s inboxes.

I also have a podcast that you can listen to on Amazon, Spotify and directly from your inbox. If you’re interested, you can sign up today!

Sticker Club

I started a sticker club through ko-fi last week, so if you like getting random art monthly, definitely check it out!

Otherwise, I hope you are well! Take care!
